Did You Know
In John Strange's "Did You Know" it showed how technology plays a role in the society. Also, how technology is expanding and upgrading everyday. People are becoming more dependent on technology, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. In education it is a good thing because, it can be the answer to the next question a student has or inspire them to create something better for society. Technology is becoming a gateway to communicate with others worldwide. One of the questions was "what is your role as a teacher?". I feel my role as a teacher is to prepare my students for the real world. By wanting to make sure my students are prepared I have to be prepared. To prepare myself I have to be familiar with the latest technology. I want my students to be able to compete with other students worldwide. In today's society people are going to need more than a high school diploma; they will also need to know basic computer skills. Mr. Winkle Wakes
"Mr. Winkle Wakes" by Matthew Needleman, was a very witty cartoon on how fast technology has upgraded around the world but, not in our school system. Mr. Winkle woke up after a 100 hundred years of being sleep and did not notice the changes in the society. Everywhere he went hospital, different jobs all had forms of technology working along side of the people. Mr. Winkle did not understand what had happened. The only place he felt comfortable was the classroom. Students where still learning the "old fashioned" way with pen and paper. Needleman really grasped the concept of our school systems being behind in the technology upgrade. If our children are the future then society should give them more technology in the school system. I have been talking to different teachers and there is a great difference in teaching in the South and teaching in the North. In a school in North Carolina there are students who are in the 4th grade who have blogs and currently blog and contact the teacher this way. In a school in the South children barely have stable computers, but it is only in some schools. The lack of technology in some schools is putting children at an disadvantage with other students all around the world. Sir Ken Robinson
"The Importance of Creativity" by Sir Ken Robinson was very enlightening.Robinson talked about the importance of creativity in the school system. Also, I think it is very important because, you should make the place where children spend most of their time interesting. I feel as a future teacher it is my job to encourage and lead a child in the right direction. Robinson stated "all children are born creative" which is true. Younger children have big imaginations but, as some children get older they start to loose the creativity. As teachers we should consistently challenge children to think outside the box. Being creative is the way technology came about in society because, someone decided to think differently on how to help society. Sometimes education is more focused on academics and making sure students have good grades instead of what do they really want to do in life. Robinson stated we should encourage children and not put down their ideas this is how their creativity dies. Pintrest
Pintrest is a wonderful website to use. It captures organization, creativity, and learning all in one place. Pintrest is a great example on how technology is expanding. I will use Pintrest in my classrooms. The reason I will use Pintrest is because, it it is a great website to get different ideas from for your classroom. The different ideas I would use is the different posters and projects dealing with my lesson for the day. It is a great way to keep your classroom alive and children interested in learning. Pinterest is another great way to stay connected to the education community and the news and latest technology. Students can also benefit from the site. Students can create different projects and artwork on the website.

  1. Alexandria,
I think you did a good job on this blog. I liked how you quoted Sir. Ken Robinson to get your point across. I would suggest that you go back to the blog #1 and look under the "VERY IMPORTANT" section. This section shows how to separate each paragraph and topics. Also, you may want to check your spelling of Pinterest.
    Have a good day!

  2. Reread the instructions on the use of the break tab. It is found at the bottom of the instructions for Blog Post #1. You are not doing it correctly (or maybe it is just that you are not using enough breaks).

    Interesting.

I now see that Jennifer has made the same suggestion to you.
